A lot of tutors/tutoring companies might opt to charge ahead of time so that in the event of a cancellation/no-show, the tutor is protected and will still get paid. When this is not suitable for the client, communication is key to make sure that things do not fail to materialise. Companies we work with utilise our email and SMS lesson reminders as an effective means to ensure lessons are not simply ‘forgotten’, the fact that they are automated means that it is not a cumbersome task of contacting each tutor/student individually to send out a reminder.
If you are not already, it might be worthwhile to look at working with a tutoring agency as if they use a system like TutorCruncher, they can focus on the admin and you can focus on simply delivering great quality tutoring.
